Elon Musk’s bet backfired! Angry users are looking for an alternative to Twitter, Mastodon and Tumblr will compete

New Delhi. After acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk has started charging users for blue ticks. At the same time, there is also a possibility that users may have to pay money to access the app in the coming days. Users are angry with this attitude of Elon Musk and now they have started looking for a new alternative to Twitter. Mastodon and Tumblr are moving fast in this race, as the downloads of these apps have increased tremendously after the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk.

However, Elon Musk has claimed that the company’s active users have reached a record high after the acquisition. However, his claim is wrong as the figures say otherwise.

Mastodon and Tumblr app downloads skyrocketed
The Twitter app has been downloaded on Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, according to data, but the growth is lower than downloads of smaller upstart rivals like Mastodon and Tumblr. Because some Twitter users are looking for new options.

Mastodon, the microblogging platform, saw a 657% increase in downloads in the 12 days since Musk took over Twitter, according to Sensor Tower. At the same time, Tumblr, another microblogging service owned by Yahoo, saw a 96% increase in its downloads in the US and 77% worldwide. Whereas during the same period, the installation of Twitter was 21% percent.

Many celebrities ask users to join ‘Mastodon’
Mastodon has 1 million global downloads, while Twitter had 238 million daily active users as of July. Users’ interest in small microblogging sites is indicating that users are also expressing dissatisfaction with Elon Musk’s decision and chaos in Twitter.

Many popular users on Twitter have encouraged their followers to join Mastodon as well, some adding “also on Mastodon” to their Twitter names. The rise in popularity of the app has surprised even its founder, Eugen Rocco. He recently told NPR that he is working day and night to fulfill this demand.
