Why celebrate Geeta Jayanti

The 18 chapters of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta give the knowledge of Gyan Yoga, Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga to man. Before the war of Mahabharata, Lord Krishna preached the Gita to dispel Arjuna’s disillusionment. Lord Shri Krishna showed Arjuna his great form and told that a man’s work is his right. Subjects like sorrow, happiness, life-death, defeat-victory are not in his control. Man can only act. Everything happens by the will of God, therefore the sorrow of life and death is futile. Soul is immortal and no one can kill it. Everything in this world happens by the will of God. This sermon of Gita was given by Lord Krishna on Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi Tithi, only after which Arjun got up for the war. That’s why Geeta Jayanti is celebrated on the Ekadashi of this Marshish.
