Know how it is prepared
Lab grown diamond or artificial diamond is prepared in the lab whereas natural diamond is mined. Natural diamonds are formed under the ground over thousands of years. Whereas lab grown diamonds are ready in just 1 to 4 weeks. Their texture and luster are similar to natural diamonds.

Lab-prepared diamonds are made from carbon seeds placed in the microwave and put in a plasma ball to make them shiny. This process makes these diamonds crystallize more than before in a week.

Demand raised for inclusion in PLI scheme
Colin Shah, President of Gems and Jewelery Export Promotion Council, says that there has been talk with the government to include lab grown diamond industry in the PLI scheme. The industry has the potential to generate 10 lakh jobs and an export turnover of over Rs 40,000 crore.
