In the Delhi bullion market, gold rose by Rs 352 to Rs 53,677 per 10 grams on Thursday. In the previous trading session, gold had closed at Rs 53,325 per 10 grams.

Rupee up 8 paise at 81.22 per dollar
The rupee on Thursday improved by 8 paise to close at 81.22 (provisional) per dollar against the American currency at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market. The rupee strengthened as the dollar weakened after US central bank Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell hinted at slowing interest rate hikes.

Gold imports decline by 17% to $24 billion in first 7 months of FY23
According to commerce ministry data, the country’s gold imports declined by 17.38 per cent to $24 billion in the first seven months (April-October) of the current financial year. In the same period of the previous financial year, the import of gold was $ 29 billion. According to the data, gold imports in October declined by 27.47 per cent to $3.7 billion as compared to the same month last year. Similarly, silver imports also declined by 34.80 per cent to $585 million in October. However, silver imports rose to $4.8 billion in April-October from $1.52 billion in the same period last fiscal.
