Similarly, the price of silver also declined by Rs 345 to close at Rs 68,850 per kg. HDFC Securities Senior Analyst Saumil Gandhi said, “The spot gold price in Delhi declined by Rs 480 to Rs 58,770 per 10 grams.”

In the foreign market, the prices of both gold and silver fell to $ 1,939 an ounce and $ 22.34 an ounce, respectively.

Gems and jewelery exports up 24 per cent in February
Significantly, India’s gems and jewelery exports increased by 24 percent to Rs 28,832.86 crore in February 2023 due to improvement in demand in China and Middle East markets. The Gems and Jewelery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) said in a statement that the total exports of gems and jewelery during February 2022 stood at Rs 23,326.80 crore. In February 2023, the total exports of cut and polished diamonds (CPD) increased by 32 per cent to Rs 19,582.38 crore. This figure was Rs 14,841.90 crore in the same period a year ago.
