Halwa Ceremony: Finance Minister distributes ‘Halwa’ before finalizing the budget document, officials will remain locked in the room

Budget 2023: In the presence of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman (FM Nirmala Sitharaman), the traditional Halwa Ceremony was organized today on 26th January. Traditionally, this ceremony is held before the finalization of the budget document. The Finance Minister gave the final shape to the budget document by distributing halwa in the presence of officials. During this, apart from Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, senior officials of the Ministry of Finance were present.

This traditional ceremony is held before the “lock in” process of the officials involved in the preparation of the budget. The budget for the financial year 2023-24 will be presented by the Finance Minister on 1 February. The budget preparation process is in its final stage. The Finance Ministry itself has announced this through its Twitter handle.
