Vikram Samvat has great importance in Indian culture. The month of Chaitra is the first month of the year according to the Indian calendar. Many mythological stories are prevalent in relation to the new year. According to Vedic Puranas and Shastras, Adishakti appeared on Chaitra Shukla Paksha Pratipada Tithi. Brahma started the creation on the orders of Adishakti. That is why this day is known as New Year from time immemorial. It is also believed that on this day Lord Vishnu incarnated as a fish. Satyug started on this day. It is believed that on this day Emperor Vikramaditya established his kingdom. The coronation of Shriram also took place on this day. The coronation of Yudhishthira also took place on this day. Navratri also starts from this day. On this date, King Vikramaditya had conquered the Shakas. To make the victory permanent, he started Vikram Samvat, since then Vikram Samvat is going on. From this day, the great mathematician Bhaskaracharya composed the Panchang by calculating the day, month and year from sunrise to sunset. Chaitra Shukla Pratipada also has historical significance. Swami Dayanand Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj on this day. Maharishi Gautam Jayanti is celebrated on this day. On this day, the birthday of Sangh founder Dr. Keshavrao Baliram Hedgewar is also celebrated.

Indian sages had started the most excellent time calculation of the universe since very ancient times. Accordingly, the age of our solar system is about four billion 32 crore years. Modern science is also considering it about four billion years old with the help of carbon dating and half life period. Not only this, according to Shrimad Bhagavad Purana, Shri Markandeya Purana and Brahma Purana, Abhishet is running for twelve Kalpas and there are one thousand Chaturyugas in one Kalpa. The day the creation began, it was today’s holy day. For this reason, it became a tradition to celebrate Chaitra festival in the temple of Meenakshi Devi, the most sacred Shaktipeeth of Madurai.

The naming of Indian months is also very interesting, that is, the month in which its full moon falls, that month is named after the Nakshatra, for example, the full moon of this month is in Chitra Nakshatra, hence it is named Chaitra month. Went. To fix the boundaries of 12 months on the revolution circle, 12 parts of 30-30 degrees were made in the sky and their names were also kept on the basis of the shapes of the constellations. In this way twelve zodiac signs were formed.

Since the Sun is not exactly in the center of the ecliptic, the Earth near the angles takes 28 days to orbit the Sun, and when on the far side it takes 32 days. That’s why one month is added every three years.

Indian time calculation is such a scientific system that there is no difference of even a moment for centuries, whereas in Western time calculation, 365.2422 days of the year are divided into 12 months according to 30 and 31. In this way, every four years, the month of February is declared as a leap year. Even then the time of nine minutes and 11 seconds is saved, so one day has to be increased in every four hundred years, even then it is not possible to complete. Just a few years ago, the International Atomic Clock in Paris was slowed down by one second. Still the running time of 22 seconds is more. This is the same laboratory in Paris, where all the standards around the world are set with the CGS system. Earlier there were only 10 months in the Roman calendar. Kingnumapajulius had considered a year of 355 days only, which was declared by Julius Caesar to be 365 days and a month July was named after him. One hundred years after that, another month August i.e. August was also extended in the name of King Augustus. Since both of them were kings, only 31 days were kept in the months named after them. How ridiculous it is even in today’s scientific age that two consecutive months have the same number of days, while other months do not. Not only this, what we call the ninth month of the English calendar is September, the tenth month is called October, the eleventh month is November and the twelfth month is December. The meaning of these words is also 7,8,9 and 10 in Latin language. According to linguists, Indian time reckoning was prevalent all over the world and literally September meant Saptambara, the seventh part of the sky, similarly October is Ashtambara, November is Navamambara and December is Dashambara.

A constitutional change in the year 1608 declared January 1 as the new year. According to Zendavesta, the age of the earth is about 12 thousand years. The Chinese calendar is believed to be about one crore years old. The Chaldean calendar considers the earth to be about 21.5 million years old. The Phoenicians tell it to be about 30 thousand years old. According to Cicero, it is about four lakh 80 thousand years old. In the texts like Surya Siddhanta and Siddhanta Shiromani, Chaitrashukla Pratipada Sunday is considered as the first day of creation.

The English word Hour is derived from the Sanskrit word Hora. In this way, it is being proved that the year Pratipada is the first day of the new year. Those who celebrate New Year on January 1 are victims of a double mistake, because in India when it is 12 o’clock on the night of 31st December, it is evening in Britain, which cannot be the first morning of the New Year. And when the sun rises on January 1, the people here who celebrate Happy New Year are sleeping because they stayed awake all night. In such a situation, it is very difficult for them to worship Lord Surya after taking bath in the morning. But the atmosphere remains very pleasant in the Indian New Year. Not only humans, but inert consciousness, male-snake, yaksha, kinnar-gandharva, animal-bird, creeper, plant, river, river, goddess, god, from human to universe, all are happy to welcome that supreme power.

On New Year, the day is golden, the night is silver, the moonlight being made in the leaves by filtering the redness of the morning and evening looks so beautiful. The soft, slow fragrance of the wind makes the atmosphere smell like Havan. In such an auspicious environment, the incarnation of Akhil Loknayak Shri Ram takes place.

It is notable that in astrology, the calculation of planets, seasons, months, dates and sides etc. is also done from Chaitra Pratipada only. It is believed that by making a mixture of soft leaves and flowers of neem on the day of new year, adding black pepper, salt, asafoetida, sugar candy, cumin and celery to it, the body remains healthy. Consuming Amla on this day has also been said to be very beneficial. It is believed that Amla Navami was created by Jagat Pita as the first creation on the earth in the form of a plant. This plant was of Amla. This date is considered holy. On this day special worship is done in the temples.

Undoubtedly, when the beginning of the Indian New Year begins, nature all around chirps. The topic of Bharat is unique.

In the words of poet Shri Jaishankar Prasad-

Arun this honey country of ours

There is no doubt that the English calendar is very popular in our daily life, but our Teej-festivals, fasts, fasting, Ramnavami, Janmashtami, Griha Pravesh, marriages and auspicious times for other auspicious works, etc. are seen.

On this auspicious occasion, let us be determined to make India stand on the post of Jagatguru again.
