Sambhar Recipe: Make Sambhar that enhances the flavor of Idli, Dosa in this easy way

Sambhar Recipe: Everyone must have enjoyed Sambar with Idli and Dosa. Without sambar most of the South Indian foods go uncooked. Serve the sambhar full of flavor with idli, dosa or meduvada, the taste of every food item gets doubled. Sambar is also eaten as a vegetable. If you also like South Indian food and want to taste hotel-like sambhar at home, then today we are going to tell you an easy recipe to make Tasty Sambar.
Sambar is very easy to make and many vegetables are used to make it. Sambar is not only tasty but also nutritious. Let’s know the very easy recipe of making sambar.

Ingredients for making Sambar
Arhar (Toor) dal – 1 cup
Tomato – 1
Lauki chopped – 1/2 cup
Drumstick pods – 1
Cabbage – 1/2 cup
Cauliflower – 1/2 cup
Onion chopped – 1
Eggplant – 1
Capsicum – 1/4 cup
Potato – 1
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Rai – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – 7-8
Dry red chili – 1-2
Sambar Masala – 1 tbsp
Tamarind – 1/2 tbsp
Green coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Oil – 1 tbsp
Salt – as per taste

how to make sambar
To make sambhar, first wash all the vegetables including potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cauliflower and then cut them into small pieces and keep them aside. Now put tamarind in a bowl of hot water and prepare tamarind water by mashing it with hands. After that filter the water with a sieve. Now take a pressure cooker and put tur dal and a cup of water in it. Add turmeric powder and a pinch of salt to it. Now place all the chopped vegetables in a small vessel and keep it in the cooker.

After this put the lid of the cooker and cook all the things till 3-4 whistles come. After the whistles, turn off the gas and let the pressure of the cooker release automatically. After the pressure is over, open the lid of the cooker and take out the pot of vegetables. After this mash the lentils well with the help of a spoon.

Now take a wok and put 1 tbsp oil in it and heat it on medium flame. After the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, asafoetida and dry red chilies and fry for 10-15 seconds. After this, add finely chopped onion to the spices and fry till the onion becomes soft and becomes light brown. After this add tamarind water and cook it. After cooking for 1 minute, add finely chopped tomatoes to it.

When the tomatoes become soft during cooking, then mix sambar powder in it. After cooking for 1 more minute, add boiled tur dal and other vegetables and cook it. Add salt to the sambhar as per taste. Let it boil well for 5-7 minutes. After that turn off the gas. Delicious rajma is ready. Garnish it with green coriander leaves and serve hot.
