This luxury triplex apartment has been bought in the Malabar Hill area of South Mumbai. It has Arabian Sea on one side and Hanging Gardens on the other side. JP Tapariya, founder of Famy Care, a contraceptive product maker, has bought it. Rs 19.07 crore has been paid as stamp duty to buy this apartment. Many luxury bungalows can be built with this much money.
The apartment is a part of the super-luxury residential tower, Lodha Malabar. It is on the 26th, 27th and 28th floors. Lodha Tower is opposite to Governor’s Estate on Walkeshwar Road. This most expensive apartment of the country bought by JP Tapadia is not yet built and its construction is going on. It is expected to be completed by the year 2026. Earlier, the country’s most expensive house was bought by Neeraj Bajaj, chairman of Bajaj Auto. He had paid Rs 252.50 crore for a penthouse in the same tower.

The total area of this apartment is 27,160 square feet and this deal has been done at the rate of Rs 1.36 lakh per square foot. This is the costliest residential deal in the country on a per square foot basis. The registry of the apartment took place on Wednesday evening. Rs 19.07 crore has been paid as stamp duty. Lodha Malabar, a luxury tower being built by Macrotech Developers, a listed company of Lodha Group, is spread over 1.08 acres.
Who is JP Tapadia?
JP Tapadia is the founder of Famy Care, a contraceptive product company. The Tapadia family also has stakes in Anant Capital, Springwell and Guardian Pharmacy. In November 2022, the Tapadia family sold its eyecare business to Wytris Inc for Rs 2,460 crore. In the year 2015 also, Tapadia had sold its women’s healthcare business to Mylan for Rs 4,600 crore. In this way, by selling his two businesses, he raised more than Rs 7,000 crore.
