New Delhi. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, while addressing India Energy Week 2023 on Monday, said that India is the world’s third largest energy consumer and India can get oil from wherever it is at a reasonable price. India Energy Week ensures India’s energy security, affordability and access for our citizens and reflects the PM’s long-term vision for India’s role in the global energy transition.

Puri said that the country meets 85 percent of its total oil requirements and 50 percent of natural gas through imports. Ethanol obtained from sugarcane and other agricultural produce is being mixed with petrol to reduce dependence on imports. Puri said that by the year 2025, there is a target to mix 20 percent ethanol in petrol. Explain that this program is being organized with the aim of showcasing India’s growing step in the field of green energy.

Russia is India’s largest oil supplier
India used to import oil from 27 countries in 2006-07. This number increased to 39 in 2021-22. New suppliers include Colombia, Russia, Libya, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. At the same time, Russia has become India’s largest oil supplier country.
