Defense Ministry Confirms Changes in Commands of Russian Troops in Ukraine – The Moscow Times

The Ministry of Defense named the names of the commanders of the groupings of Russian troops in Ukraine. Commenting on the course of hostilities, Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the ministry, said that Colonel General Alexander Lapin commanded the formations and military units of the “Center” groupings of troops, and General of the Army Sergei Surovikin commanded the Southern Group of Forces, Kommersant writes.

According to Konashenkov, under the command of Lapin, the city of Lisichansk was blocked from the south, and the group of troops of Sergei Surovikin occupied the points of Gorskoye and Zolote, 20 kilometers south of Lisichansk.
