Italy has agreed to increase gas imports from Algeria in search of alternatives to Russian gas and diversification of energy supplies.
This was reported by Espresso with reference to Reuters.
Italy has signed an agreement with Algeria to increase gas imports from this country by about 40%. This is the first major deal to find alternatives to Russian gas since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, others will follow this agreement.
About 40% of gas imports or 29 billion cubic meters of this fuel Italy receives from Russia. Now the country is trying to find alternatives to Russian supplies. The country is trying to negotiate alternative supplies with Congo, Angola, Azerbaijan and Qatar.
