Polish citizens to receive special legal status in Ukraine – The Moscow Times

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed to grant citizens of Poland a special legal status. As told According to Zelensky’s press secretary Sergei Nikiforov, the document will become an analogue of the Polish law on supporting the citizens of Ukraine, UNIAN reports.

It is too early to talk about the specific provisions of the bill, said the press secretary of the Ukrainian president. The document is being developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.

In March, the Polish Sejm legislatively simplified the access of Ukrainian refugees to the labor market. Citizens of Ukraine are allowed to legally stay in the republic for 18 months from February 24. They will also be granted a temporary residence permit for three years and the opportunity employment under the same conditions as the Poles. Also, the procedure for obtaining a PESEL identification code was simplified for Ukrainians, which gives the right to use public services.
