RKN blocked the site of the Russian service of The Moscow Times for the news about the refusal of riot police to fight in Ukraine – The Moscow Times in Russian

Russian telecom operators have begun to block the website of the Russian service of the Moscow Times. At the time of writing, the site ceased to open for users of Rostelecom and regional providers, for some users of MTS, Beeline, Dom Ru and other providers.

The RKN block check telegram bot showed that the site’s IP address is being blocked based on the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office on 31.27.2022/ID4988-22. The editorial office has not yet received any notifications from state bodies.

Roskomnadzor’s universal restriction check service confirms that this IP address has been blocked based on the decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office 27-31-2022/ID4988-22 from 04/12/2022

The copy of the download of the register of information prohibited in the Russian Federation also mentions this decision and indicates the material of the Moscow Times “11 OMON fighters refused to fight in Ukraine and left for home.”

Roskomnadzor warned on February 25 that the media should use only official Russian sources when covering the situation in Donbas. For the publication of false – that is, not reflecting the position of the Ministry of Defense – information, the regulator threatened with blocking and a fine of up to 5 million rubles. After that, independent Russian media began to be blocked in Russia, and the publications Bumaga, Meduza, BBC, Belingcat and TJournal were entered into the register of Roskomnadzor twice.

For citizens who want to publicly express their disagreement against the war, a law was passed on “military fakes” and discrediting the army. The authorities have broad ideas about what can discredit the military. They fine for “silent support” of a protest action, draw up protocols for posters “Peace to the world”, “No ***” and even “*** *****”.
