Jason Roy, Mohammed Shami and Mark Wood
IPL 2024 is going to start in just a few days. The first match in IPL 2024 will be played between Chennai Super Kings and RCB on March 22. Chennai is commanded by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and RCB captain Faf du Plessis. But even before the start of IPL 2024, 5 star players are out. Two Indian players are included in these five players.
1. Mark Wood
Lucknow Super Giants’ star fast bowler Mark Wood is out of IPL 2024. Mark Wood is a player included in the central contract of England. For this reason the England Cricket Board did not allow him to play. Because T20 World Cup is to be held in June. After this, England will host West Indies and Sri Lanka in Test matches. ECB has taken this decision to protect the player from injury. In IPL 2023, Mark Wood played four matches and took 11 wickets. Shamar Joseph has been included in his place in the team of Lucknow Super Giants. Joseph had performed amazingly in his debut Test series itself.
2. Jason Roy
Kolkata Knight Riders’ star batsman Jason Roy has decided not to play in IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. Last season, he joined as a replacement for injured Shreyas Iyer. He scored 285 runs in 8 matches of IPL 2023. KKR team has included Phil Salt as his replacement. Salt has been given an amount of Rs 1.5 crore.
3. Gus Atkinson
Gus Atkinson has decided not to play in IPL 2024. Because ECB has decided to manage their workload. KKR team has included Dushmantha Chameera in his place. Chameera has earlier also been a part of Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL. He played for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2023. He took a total of 9 wickets in 12 matches.
4. Mohammed Shami
Gujarat Titans’ lethal fast bowler Mohammed Shami is out of IPL 2024. He is not completely fit right now. Only last month, Shami’s heel surgery was successfully done. Shami had performed well for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 and 2023. He has taken a total of 48 wickets in his name for Gujarat. His replacement has not been announced yet.
5. Famous Krishna
Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is out of IPL 2024. He had surgery on his quadriceps tendon in February. He got injured during Ranji Trophy. He could not play last year also due to injury. Rajasthan Royals team bought him for Rs 10 crore. Whereas his base price was Rs 1 crore. He has taken a total of 49 wickets in 51 matches so far in IPL.
