The second test match between India and Bangladesh has started. In this match being played at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, the toss was delayed by half an hour because the ground was wet due to rain. However, this did not make much difference to the Indian team. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and took a bold decision to bowl first and thus a new history was created in Kanpur.

In fact, Rohit Sharma is only the second captain to win the toss and choose to bowl first in the Kanpur Test. This was seen after 64 years at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Earlier in the year 1964, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi had won the toss and chosen bowling in the Test match against England.

Akash Deep gave first success

In the Kanpur Test, Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss went in favor of the Indian bowlers. Akash Deep gave early success to India. Akash dismissed Zakir Hasan for a duck in his very first over. The interesting thing was that Zakir could not open his account despite playing 24 balls and thus a big record was registered in the name of Akash Deep.

Zakir Hasan is the fourth batsman from Bangladesh who failed to open his account in Test cricket despite playing 20 or more balls. Before this match, this incident was seen 16 years ago in the history of Bangladesh’s Test cricket when Aftab Ahmed was dismissed for a duck by New Zealand bowler Jacob Oram. In this test match played in Dunedin in 2008, Aftab Ahmed played 25 balls but could not even open his account and was out.

Not only this, Zakir Hasan has also become the batsman to get out for a duck after playing the most number of balls against India. Earlier this shameful record was held in the name of Ian Chappell. In the Test match played in Sydney in 1968, Ian Chappell was run out without opening the account after playing 22 balls.
