Quen Mafaca broke a 25 year old record

Quen Mphaka played his first match in the international format at the age of 18 years and 137 days. Earlier, this record was in the name of Feyeno Victor, who played his first match for South Africa against West Indies on 5 February 1999, who made his international debut at the age of 18 years 314 days. Mphaka was given the cap for his debut match by South African team’s experienced fast bowler Lungi Ngidi. In his debut match, Mphaka bowled 3.5 overs, conceded 25 runs and took one wicket. However, despite this, the South African team had to face defeat by 7 wickets against West Indies in this first match.

Kwena Mphaka came into the limelight when he performed brilliantly in the Under-19 World Cup held in early 2024 and won the Player of the Tournament title. After this, he got a chance to play for the Mumbai Indians team under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya in the IPL 2024 season. Mphaka made his IPL debut at the age of 17 years 354 days and became the third youngest foreign player to debut in IPL history. However, Mphaka’s first IPL season was not very special and he got a chance to play only 2 matches in which he took one wicket.
