In the second Test match being played in Rawalpindi, the first innings of the Pakistan team did not start well in which Asad Shafiq returned to the pavilion without opening his account. After this, Pakistan team captain Shan Masood, along with Saim Ayub, tried to take the team towards a big score by making a partnership of 107 runs for the second wicket. However, Masood returned to the pavilion after scoring 57 runs and Saim Ayub after scoring 58 runs. At the same time, everyone was hoping that Babar Azam would take the responsibility of taking the team’s innings forward.
Babar Azam started his innings cautiously and even crossed the 30-run mark, but when he was on a personal score of 31, he made a mistake in understanding Shakib Al Hasan’s ball which hit his pad directly and he had to return to the pavilion after being out LBW. This was Babar Azam’s 15th consecutive innings in Tests when he failed to score 50 or more runs. Babar’s long wait of 614 days has now increased further.
