Indian athletes Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu have won silver and bronze medals in the T63 category in high jump at the Paris Paralympics 2024. These players performed brilliantly and won medals for India. 19-year-old American athlete Ezra Frech has set a new Paralympic record with a jump of 1.94 meters.

Sharad Kumar gave a strong performance

Sharad Kumar has been performing well for India for some time now. He also won a bronze medal for India in the last Paralympics. This time he has changed the colour of his medal. Sharad was once winning the gold medal in the T63 category in high jump, but the American athlete dashed his dreams. He could not go beyond his best jump of 1.88 meters. He went for 1.91 meters and 1.94 meters. But could not cross any of these hurdles. That is why he had to be content with only the silver medal.

Won medals in three consecutive Paralympics

Mariyappan Thangavelu won gold in Paralympics 2016, silver in 2020 and bronze this time. He has won medals in three consecutive Paralympics. Apart from Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar, another Indian was in the race for the medal. His name is Shailesh Kumar. But he could not win the medal and finished fourth. He jumped 1.85 meters.

India won 20 medals in Paris Paralympics 2024

Indian players have performed brilliantly in Paris Paralympics 2024. India has won a total of 20 medals so far, including three gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals. India is currently at number 18 in the medal tally. Last time India had won a total of 19 medals.
