The three-match T20 series between Australia and West Indies has started from today. The first match of the series between the two teams is being played on the ground of Hobart, in which the Australian team, batting first, has scored 213 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. In this match, opening batsman David Warner, who recently retired from Test and ODI formats, scored a half-century in just 22 balls. During his innings, Warner faced 36 balls and scored 70 runs which included 12 fours and 1 six. On the basis of this inning, Warner also made a record in his name which till now no batsman has been able to achieve in the history of T20 cricket.
Warner is the first player to score 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket.
While David Warner scored his 37th half-century in T20 International match, this was his 100th half-century in T20 cricket. Warner has now become the first player to do so in this format. After Warner, the record of playing most half-century innings in T20 format is in the name of Virat Kohli, who has achieved this feat 91 times. At the third place is the name of Universe Boss Chris Gayle, who has scored the most runs in this format, who has managed to score 88 half-centuries in the T20 format. Whereas for Australia, after Warner, the record of scoring most half-centuries in this T20 cricket is in the name of Aaron Finch, who has done this feat 77 times.
Warner achieved this milestone in his 100th match in all three formats.
David Warner came on the field to play the first T20 match of the series against West Indies. This was the 100th International T20 match of his career. By playing a half-century in this match, Warner made a record which will not be an easy task for any player to break. Warner has become the first player to score 50 plus in his 100th match in all three international formats. While Warner had scored 124 runs in the ODI match against India in the year 2017, he managed to score 200 runs in his 100th Test match against South Africa in the year 2023.
