The Australian team will play a three-match Test series against Pakistan from December 14 under the captaincy of Pat Cummins. Regarding this, Cricket Australia announced the team for the first Test match to be played at Perth on the morning of 3 December, in which David Warner’s name is also included. Warner has already announced that this will be his last Test series. Regarding Warner’s departure, Mitchell Johnson had said why he was being given more attention. Usman Khawaja has scolded Johnson on this.

Because of this there was criticism

Former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson’s criticism of David Warner has not gone down well with batsman Usman Khawaja and he has defended the opening batsman, who is going to bid farewell to Test cricket in Sydney in January next year. In his column in ‘The West Australian’ newspaper, Johnson has raised questions on Warner’s selection in Australia’s 14-member team. He wrote that on the basis of his form, 37-year-old Warner does not deserve a place in the team and he has also not taken full responsibility for his role in the ‘sandpaper scandal’ that took place in South Africa in 2018.

Usman Khawaja defended

Usman Khawaja has defended David Warner and Steve Smith who were the captains of Australia at that time. He said that Warner and Smith are heroes in my eyes. He did not play cricket for a year due to bad times. No one is perfect. Neither is Mitchell Johnson. He said that if someone says that David Warner or anyone else involved in the sandpaper scandal is not a hero, then I do not agree with him because they have served their punishment. A year is a long time.

David Warner has not been able to perform well for some time. No big innings have been seen from his bat. His bat was silent in Ashes 2023. He has scored 8487 runs in 109 Test matches for Australia, which includes 25 centuries.
