Duleep Trophy 2024 started on 5th September. Many star players failed on the very first day. Rishabh Pant was making a comeback in red ball cricket after a long time but he also flopped. After being seriously injured in a road accident in December 2022, Pant came out to play his first red ball cricket match but returned to the pavilion after scoring just 7 runs. Pant may have failed in his comeback but because of him, the 19-year-old young batsman managed to grab everyone’s attention with his batting on the first day in the first match of the Duleep Trophy. This young batsman did the feat of scoring a brilliant century in his very first match in the Duleep Trophy. This batsman is none other than Sarfaraz Khan’s younger brother Mushir Khan, who scored a brilliant century against India-A while playing for India-B.

Musheer showed his strength

Rishabh Pant could stay at the crease for only 10 balls in his return to red ball cricket but Musheer Khan displayed his brilliant understanding and patience on a difficult pitch and scored an unbeaten century. In this way, India-B managed to score 202 runs for seven wickets on the first day of the four-day Duleep Trophy match against India-A. Musheer’s century came at a time when a dangerous wicket was seen on the very first day at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India-B’s wickets were falling from one end but Musheer saved his wicket by playing carefully against the balls of dangerous bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav and then went on to score a century.

Pant’s great advice came in handy for Mushir

Rishabh Pant also played a very important role in Mushir’s century innings. Pant had given special tips to the 19-year-old young batsman to deal with Kuldeep Yadav, which was revealed by Mushir himself after the day’s play ended. Mushir said in the press conference after the day that he was not thinking much about runs and his focus was on playing as many balls as possible. He wanted to bat all day. He told that when he came to bat, the ball was swinging and cutting. Therefore, he was trying to play the ball as close to his body as possible and trying to avoid risky shots. Mushir said that the conversation with Rishabh Pant helped him prepare against Kuldeep.
