Anshul Garg said that the news of retirement did not surprise him much. Because if you know the background of Archana Girish Kamat, she hails from a good family. Her parents are doctors and her brother is in NASA. She was inclined towards studies from the very beginning. She was focused on studies. She had equal focus on table tennis and studies. There was confusion that studies make me more passionate. If I study for three to four hours, then I feel like continuing studying. When I play TT, I feel that I should play TT.
Anshul Garg further said that if we look at both the things, she was at the top. I have seen many such players in my coaching career. I respect her decision. Every coin has two sides. Every athlete has different priorities. I also want her to play for the next few years. But if we are forcing something then it is not right. She was inclined towards studies.
Money is not the problem in Archana’s case: Anshul Garg
Anshul Garg said that you will be personally disappointed. If a superstar leaves at his peak, the coach will be disappointed. What can we do? We are just coaches. She is a hardworking, focused and composed player. It is a big loss for the nation. A player who was performing well. What is the motivation of the player? If the player’s motivation is money and stardom, if he does not get it, he will leave the game. But this is not the case with Archana. If you see, she does not even have a social media account. She belongs to a good family. If you see her lifestyle, it is very simple. Money is not a problem in Archana’s case.
