Paris Paralympics 2024: Indian athletes are performing very well in Paris Paralympics 2024. India has won a total of five medals so far. Gagan Narang, India’s Chef de Mission at the Paris Olympics, told India TV’s Sports Editor Sameep Rajguru on Avni Lekhara’s gold medal win that it is great for Indian Paralympic sport. It has given the push that Paralympics needed. From Deepa Malik to Devendra Jhajharia, Paralympians are better role models than able-bodied Olympians because their passion is incomparable. I am inspired every day by watching them. I am very happy that we won so many medals in a single day at the Paralympics. What a great performance by Avni. She was in great form. Winning a Paralympic gold medal is a big deal.
She did a great feat of winning the gold medal in the SH1 category in the Tokyo Paralympics. She holds the record of winning two medals in the same Paralympics. In the Tokyo Paralympics, she won the gold medal in 10m air rifle while she won the bronze medal in 50m rifle three-position. With the medal win in Paris, she has now become the first Indian female para athlete to win a gold medal in 2 consecutive Paralympics.

After winning the gold medal, Avani Lekhara said that it was a very close final. There was very little difference between 1, 2 and 3. I was focusing on my work and not on the result. I am happy that the Indian national anthem was played this time too. I still have two more matches to play, so I am focusing on winning more medals for the country.
