Cricket is one of the most famous sports in India. This is the reason why some big news keeps coming out about cricketers every day. Now a case related to fraud has come to light. Which can surprise the fans a lot. A former Indian cricketer has committed a major crime of fraud. In which this player has cheated even Indian star Rishabh Pant. Former cricketer Mrinank Singh has been detained for allegedly cheating on luxury hotels and even Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant. Singh, who was detained on December 25, had posed as an IPS officer to defraud luxury hotels. He defrauded several hotels including Taj Palace in Delhi to the tune of Rs 5.5 lakh and Rishabh Pant of Rs 1.6 crore.

Police said this

Meanwhile, DCP Ravikant Kumar said that Singh had described himself as an IPL player. In July 2022, he went to Taj Palace and told them that he is a famous cricketer and has played in the IPL. He stayed there for about a week and his bill was around Rs 5.6 lakh. He left the hotel saying his sponsor, Adidas, would pay the bill. However, the bank account number and card details provided by him turned out to be fake, the officer said, adding that Mrinank and his manager were contacted but they kept making fake promises, following which a complaint was lodged.

According to the police, Singh used to pretend to be a Karnataka police officer and commit fraud in hotels. In some hotels, he would present himself as a senior police officer from Karnataka, while in others, he would say he was a successful cricketer. He was very active on social media and posted selfies with women to show that he was famous and had many fans.

Pant was also cheated

According to media reports, he duped Rishabh Pant of Rs 1.6 crore by pretending to be a businessman dealing in luxury watches and jewellery. Pant reportedly gave him watches and received a check which bounced. Singh has played for the Haryana U19 team and also claims to have been a part of Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Singh was produced in the court, from where he was sent on two-day police remand.
