Former Indian wicketkeeper enters the selection committee – Hindustan News Hub

Selection Committee Ajay Ratra: The Indian team has to play a Test series against Bangladesh from 19 September. This series is very important for both the teams in view of the final of the World Test Championship. Now the Cricket Advisory Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has named Ajay Ratra as the new member of the selection committee for the series against Bangladesh. The chief of the selection committee is Ajit Agarkar. Ajay Ratra will replace Salil Ankola in the selection committee.

Ajay Ratra has a lot of experience

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ajay Ratra has experience in domestic and international cricket and his record is impressive. He has served as the head coach of Assam, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, he was also part of the coaching staff of the Indian team during the ODI series in South Africa in 2023. He has experience, which can be useful for Team India.

As a selector, Ajay Ratra’s first priority will be to identify the best talent. He will work with the existing members of the selection committee who will represent India on the global stage. It is not yet known on which date Ratra will join the selection committee. Whether he will select Team India for the series against Bangladesh or not.

Played 6 test matches for India

Ajay Ratra made his Test debut for the Indian team in 2002. After this, he has scored 163 runs in 6 Tests and a total of 90 runs in 12 ODIs. He has a lot of runs to his name in first class cricket. He has scored 4029 runs in 99 first class matches. Apart from this, he has scored 1381 runs in 89 List-A matches. He used to play for Haryana in domestic cricket.
