The Pakistan Cricket Board is to host the ICC Champions Trophy in early 2025, for which the PCB is also carrying out renovation work in some stadiums including Lahore and Karachi so that its preparations for this important tournament can be strengthened. At the same time, the PCB is also facing a big problem in which its franchise-based T20 league is now facing a dilemma over the organization of the next season of the Pakistan Super League and due to this the franchise is also very upset in which they have not been able to reach any kind of agreement with the PCB so far.
PCB is planning to organize PSL during IPL
With the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled to be held in February and March, the Pakistan Cricket Board has now planned to hold the PSL in April and May, but due to the Indian Premier League window during that time, there has been no agreement between the PCB and the franchise owners on this matter. At the same time, the franchise owners are also waiting for their share of the money from the central pool of revenue from the PSL last season. Regarding all these situations, an official of a PSL franchise published on PTI said in his statement that organizing the PSL along with the IPL is a big risk and the main issue is the availability of big players. At the same time, there may be a number of viewers on TV and digital media for PSL matches.
PSL is no longer the biggest revenue source for PCB
The PSL franchise owner further said in his statement that we have been told that we can confirm talks with at least 1-2 marquee level players. But it is not final yet. At the same time, for the first time in 2023, PSL was not the biggest revenue source of PCB, but it was international cricket. In the year 2023, PCB earned 3.35 billion from PSL, while the earnings from international cricket were 5.5 billion.
