How many players will teams be able to retain before the IPL 2025 auction?

Nothing has been said by the BCCI yet regarding the retention policy of IPL 2025. However, the BCCI had called all the IPL team owners for a meeting, in which everyone was asked for their opinion. But the final decision could not be taken. The reason for this was that the teams had different opinions. After listening and understanding everyone’s views, the BCCI had said that the decision would be announced later. Meanwhile, it is now believed that the retention policy will be released soon. According to the information received so far, it is believed that IPL teams can retain a maximum of four players. Also, this time there is a possibility of the return of RTM i.e. Right to Match Card.
Talks can be made on four retentions and two RTMs
This time a mega auction is to be held before IPL. The last time the mega auction was held, teams were allowed to retain only four players. However, some teams complained that the players they develop and groom for three years have to be released later due to the mega auction. It is possible that RTM may be brought back once again as a remedy for this. Under RTM, the player released by the team can be brought back through the auction. But the condition is that the team will have to bring the player to its side at the last price quoted by the team.
RTM may return
BCCI implemented this rule for the first time in the year 2014, but later it could not continue for long. This time BCCI can give permission to retain four players, which will include players from India and abroad. BCCI can soon decide how many Indian and how many foreign players will be there. Along with the fans, the teams are also waiting for the retention policy, so that they can decide the players they want to retain with them.
