‘Impact player rule should be removed’, this veteran made a big demand even before IPL 2024

Wasim Jaffer tweeted that the rule of impact player should be removed in IPL, because it does not encourage all-rounders to bowl more. Lack of all-rounders and batsmen not bowling is a big concern for Indian cricket.

Was used in IPL 2023

Impact player rule came for the first time in IPL 2023. Under this rule, at the time of toss, apart from the playing eleven, the captain has to give the names of 5 more players, whom he wants to use during the match. Out of these 5 players, any one player is replaced by the player playing in the playing eleven. In this way 12 players can play in the match. In such a situation, the 12th player is called the impact player.
