Team India’s 2-match Test series against Bangladesh will start from September 19. The Indian team has not been announced for this series yet. But now the news is coming that Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah can be rested in this Test series. News agency PTI has made this big disclosure in its report. The report says that Bumrah is expected to return through the three-Test series against New Zealand starting from October 16. The Indian team management and selectors are planning to bring more variety in the fast bowling attack, for which a left-arm seam and swing bowler can be brought in the Test team.
A source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told PTI on the condition of anonymity, “Bumrah is well aware of his body and fitness and it will depend on him whether he wants to play in the Test against Bangladesh or not. The team management and selectors are very clear that India needs Jasprit Bumrah to be fit in all five Test matches against Australia. However, before this series, the New Zealand team will tour India in which he will probably be ready to play.”
Bumrah can be an option
If we look at the options of left-arm swing ball bowlers in place of Bumrah, then the selectors can consider the names of Arshdeep Singh and Khalil Ahmed. Arshdeep is continuously playing T20I cricket and is now knocking on the door of the Test team. After winning the T20 World Cup title, he has also expressed his desire to play Test cricket. On the other hand, Khalil is a better bowler but the lack of consistency in his bowling is clearly visible. The second option for the left-arm fast bowler is Yash Dayal but he is far behind in terms of competing with Khalil and Arshdeep at the moment.
