Indian team started preparations in Chennai for the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh.
IND vs BAN Test Series: The upcoming home season of the Indian cricket team will begin with a 2-match Test series against Bangladesh from September 19. After this, Team India has to play a three-match Test series against New Zealand at home in the month of October. Both these Test series are very important for Team India from the point of view of reaching the final of the World Test Championship 2023-25. Keeping this in mind, most of the players of the Indian team who are members of the first Test match team announced against Bangladesh have reached Chennai. Team India has also started its preparations for this Test series at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 13.
Morne Morkel takes over as bowling coach
Team India played its last Test series at home in 5 matches against England this year, the last match of which was played in the month of March. At that time the coaching staff of the Indian team was different, whose tenure ended with the T20 World Cup 2024. Now Team India will play Test matches under the new coaching staff. In this, the responsibility of bowling coach is being handled by former veteran fast bowler of South Africa team Morne Morkel, whose name was announced by the BCCI after the end of the Indian team’s Sri Lanka tour. Some pictures of Team India’s training camp started in Chennai have been posted on social media by the BCCI in which Morkel is also seen, while apart from him Abhishek Nair is handling the role of assistant coach.
All eyes will be on Kohli’s performance
In the Test series against Bangladesh, everyone’s eyes will be on Virat Kohli’s performance because if we look at his batting average since 2020, it has been 33.59 which is much lower than his career batting average. In such a situation, after Bangladesh and New Zealand, India has to tour Australia, so it is very important for Team India that Kohli comes into form before that. If we look at Kohli’s performance against Bangladesh in Tests, he has scored 437 runs in 6 matches at an average of 54.63, in which 2 centuries have also been seen from his bat.
