India lost 2-4 to Netherlands in shootout in FIH Pro League Hockey – India TV Hindi

An exciting match was witnessed between India and Netherlands on 21st February in the second phase of FIH Pro League hockey tournament at Rourkela ground. In this match, the Indian hockey team had to face defeat by 2-4 against Netherlands in the shootout. In fact, till the stipulated time in the match, the score of both the teams was tied at 1-1, after which a shootout was resorted to to decide the result of the match, after which the Netherlands team managed to win. In this match, a great game was seen on the field from both the teams.

India showed aggressive play in the beginning

If we talk about this match, the Indian hockey team tried to play aggressively in the first half so that it could put pressure on the Netherlands team. However, he could not achieve any significant results from this. Netherlands scored the first goal by breaking into the Indian circle in the fourth minute of the game, which was scored by Middendorp for the Dutch team, which was his first goal in international hockey. After this, at the end of the first quarter, the Netherlands team also got a penalty corner, although they could not succeed in scoring a goal in it.

India leveled the match by scoring a goal in the last quarter of the game.

After the start of the second quarter of this match, aggressive attitude of both the teams was seen. Indian hockey player Sukhjit Singh scored a goal in the 27th minute but was disqualified by the match referee. Although India also made a referral on this matter, the decision did not come in their favor. In the third quarter, Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh also got a penalty corner but he could not convert it into a goal. Just 5 minutes later, India got the second penalty corner on which Hardik Singh scored from the rebound. In the last quarter, both teams passed the ball into each other’s circle several times but failed to score. After the match ended in a tie at scheduled time, Netherlands defeated India 4-2 in the shootout. The Indian hockey team will now play its next match against Australia on 24 February.
