Paralympic Games 2024: India’s amazing performance continues in the Paralympics. Indian athletes did something on the 5th day of the Paralympic Games 2024 which created history for India. India has won a total of 8 medals in the Paralympics on Monday, 02 September. Earlier in the history of Paralympics, India had not won so many medals in a single day. With this, India now has a total of 15 medals. Due to which we have benefited in the medal tally. India is now in 15th place. Before the start of the 5th day’s play, India had 7 medals and was in 27th place.
India’s wonder in athletics
For India, the medals on the 5th day of Paralympics 2024 were started by Yogesh Kathunia, he won the silver medal in the final of the Men’s Discus Throw F56 event. Apart from this, India won two gold medals on the 5th day. In which Sumit Antil took India’s gold medal count to three, he won the gold medal with the best javelin throw of 70.59 meters in the F64 final of Paralympics 2024.
Most medals came in badminton
India won the most medals in badminton on the 5th day. Para badminton star Nitesh Kumar won the second gold medal for India by winning the Men’s Singles SL3 Para Badminton Final. He was not the only player to win a medal in badminton, as Suhas Yathiraj (SL4) and Thulasimati Murugesan (SU5) won silver medals, while Manisha Ramdas (SU5) won bronze. Meanwhile, Nitya Sri Sivan won the bronze medal in the SH6 women’s singles badminton event. Armless archery prodigy Sheetal Devi along with veteran Rakesh Kumar won the bronze medal in the Para Archery Mixed Team Compound event.
Status of medal tally after 5th day
If we take a look at the medal tally after the 5th day of the Paralympic Games 2024, China is in first place. They have a total of 87 medals. Which includes 43 gold, 30 silver and 14 bronze. Great Britain is in second place. They have won 29 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze medals. America is in third place with 42 medals. Which includes 13 gold, 19 silver and 10 bronze medals.
