In fact, the Indian team has faced the maximum of 3 defeats in home Tests in a calendar year since 1983. 41 years ago, the Indian team was defeated by West Indies thrice in the same series within a year. India got its third defeat in this series in Guwahati. India holds the record for losing the maximum number of 4 Test matches at home in a calendar year. If the Indian team loses its third match against New Zealand, then it will equal the 55 year old shameful record.
