Something happened with the Indian team in Pune which created a new history in Test cricket. New Zealand created a new record by defeating the Indian team by 113 runs. India suffered its first defeat in a home Test series in 12 years. Due to the defeat of Pune Test, the Indian team lost the 3-match Test series and now the team is in danger of a clean sweep.
After losing the first Test in Bengaluru, Team India had a great chance to make a comeback in the series but in the Pune Test, New Zealand dominated and did wonders by winning the second consecutive Test. This is the Indian team’s first defeat in the series after losing to England in 2012-13. The Kiwi team broke India’s streak of winning 18 consecutive Test series on its own soil.
This happened after 68 years
On the other hand, New Zealand has won the Test series in India for the first time in 69 years. The New Zealand team has been touring here since 1955 but could not break into the Indian fort in all these years. Chasing the target of 359 runs to win, the Indian team was out for 245 runs. In this way, Team India has faced its third defeat in Test within a year. Earlier, India had lost by 8 wickets in the Bengaluru Test while earlier this year it had to face defeat at the hands of England. With this, Team India has equaled the 41 year old shameful record.
In fact, the Indian team has faced the maximum of 3 defeats in home Tests in a calendar year since 1983. 41 years ago, the Indian team was defeated by West Indies thrice in the same series within a year. India got its third defeat in this series in Guwahati. India holds the record for losing the maximum number of 4 Test matches at home in a calendar year. If the Indian team loses its third match against New Zealand, then it will equal the 55 year old shameful record.
