There are less than 10 days left for the start of the 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). On March 22, the first match of the upcoming season will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai. Like the last 16 seasons, this season too will see some new talent, which mainly includes the names of uncapped young Indian players. An example of this was seen in the player auction process held in December 2023 for the 17th season of IPL, when franchises spent crores of rupees to make some uncapped players a part of their team. We are going to tell you about 5 such uncapped players, whose performance will be keeping everyone’s eyes on in the upcoming season.

1 – Arshin Kulkarni

19-year-old Arshin Kulkarni, who was part of the Indian team in the ICC Under-19 World Cup played in South Africa earlier this year, has been bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 20 lakh for the upcoming season. Arshin, who has shown amazing skills with bat as well as ball, can play the role of a match-winner for the team. If we look at the record of right-arm medium pace bowler Kulkarni in domestic cricket, he has scored 121 runs in 6 T20 matches and has also taken 4 wickets. Apart from this, in the Under 19 World Cup, he got a total of 189 runs in 7 matches with the bat, including one century, while taking 4 wickets with the ball.

2 – Sameer Rizvi

Defending champion Chennai Super Kings had made Sameer Rizvi a part of their team in the player auction process for Rs 8 crore 40 lakh. The biggest reason behind this was Sameer Rizvi’s brilliant performance with the bat in the first season of UP T20 League played last year, in which he scored a total of 455 runs with 2 centuries in 9 innings while playing for Kanpur Superstars. His brilliant performance was also seen in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24, in which he scored runs at an average of 69.25. Sameer has so far scored 295 runs in 11 T20 matches at an average of 49.16.

3 – Robin Minz

Gujarat Titans have made 21-year-old young wicketkeeper batsman Robin Minz of Jharkhand a part of their team for the upcoming season for Rs 3.60 crore. Minz is naturally considered an aggressive batsman. However, till now he has not got a chance to play even a single match with the senior team of Jharkhand in first class cricket. Despite this, his aggressive playing style can prove to be very useful for the Gujarat team.

4 – Kushagra Kumar

Jharkhand wicketkeeper batsman Kushagra Kumar has been made a part of the Delhi Capitals team for the 17th season of IPL for Rs 7 crore 20 lakh. If we look at Kushagra’s career so far, his figures will not look that great, but in the last season of Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kushagra had played an inning of 67 runs in just 37 balls in the match against Maharashtra at a time when his team had scored 355 runs. Was pursuing a bigger goal. This one innings of Kushagra had impressed everyone a lot. If we look at Kumar Kushagra’s performance in domestic cricket, he has so far scored 140 runs in 11 T20 matches, while in 23 List A matches, Kushagra has scored 700 runs at an average of 46.66, which also includes 7 half-century innings.

5 – Shubham Dubey

Rajasthan Royals have made left-handed batsman Shubham Dubey, who plays for Vidarbha team in domestic cricket, a part of their team for Rs 5 crore 80 lakh. Shubham has consistently proved himself with his performances. Shubham Dubey, who plays in the lower order, had a brilliant performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24, in which he scored 221 runs in 7 matches at an average of 73.66, during which his strike rate was also seen at 187.28. Shubham has scored 485 runs in the 20 T20 matches played so far in his career at an average of 37.30, in which his strike rate has been 145.20.
