The retention policy for the mega auction of IPL 2025 was announced last month. According to this policy, franchises will be able to retain a total of 6 players from their existing squad. Although about 3 weeks have passed since the retention policy came out, till now no major update has been issued by any team regarding the retention list.
Actually, all the 10 IPL teams have to submit the list of all their retained players to BCCI by October 31, in which now only one week is left. In such a situation, all the franchisees have started preparing the retention list. Meanwhile, a big update regarding retention has come from 2008 champion Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan Royals has shared a photo on social media indicating that the franchise has retained its first player. This picture is now going viral on social media and fans are saying that Rajasthan has retained the dashing batsman.
Rajasthan Royals gave a big hint
In the photo shared by Rajasthan Royals on Instagram, Rajasthan head coach Rahul Dravid, Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara and batting coach Vikram Rathore are seen. The thing to note in this picture is that apart from the coaching staff, team captain Sanju Samson is also seen. After this photo surfaced, there are indications that Rajasthan team has retained Sanju Samson as its captain. However, no official statement has come from the franchise yet.
While sharing the photo, Rajasthan Royals wrote, “Big week!” It is clear from the caption of the photo that the coming week is very important for all the franchises because all the teams have to announce the names of the players to be retained. In such a situation, Sanju Samson’s presence in the meeting with the coaching staff of Rajasthan Royals (RR) is giving a big indication.
