IPL teams got deadline, will have to announce retained players by this date – Hindustan News Hub

The IPL Governing Council made a big announcement for the mega auction of IPL 2025 late on Saturday night. Where he informed that teams will be allowed to retain a maximum of six players through retention or by using the Right to Match (RTM) card option. Meanwhile, BCCI has set October 31, 2024 as the deadline for all 10 franchises to announce their list of retained players before the mega auction. Teams will have to reveal the names of all their retained players before this date.

Apart from this, according to the report of Cricbuzz, BCCI has also said that players who make their international debut on or before October 31 will be considered as capped players in the auction. In its statement issued by the IPL, it has been said that it should be noted that for the sake of retention rules, any player who makes his international debut on or before October 31, 2024, will be considered as a capped player.

The decision to select players for retention and RTM is left to the franchise. However, the six retentions/RTMs can have a maximum of five capped and two uncapped players. Additionally, the auction purse for each team has also been increased to Rs 120 crore. In a historic decision, IPL has also said that all the players included in the playing 12 will get a match fee of Rs 7.05 lakh per match, this has also been confirmed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah.

Players will get per match fee

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah wrote in his tweet, “Taking a historic step to celebrate the consistency and great performances in the IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of Rs 7.5 lakh per match for our cricketers! A cricketer who plays all the league matches in a season will get Rs 1.05 crore in addition to his contract money. Each franchise will be given Rs 12.60 crore as match fee for one season. This is a new era for the IPL and our players!
