Karun Nair became the second batsman to score a triple century in Tests for Team India after Virender Sehwag, but the road ahead became difficult for him instead of becoming easy. In 2016, Karun Nair scored a triple century against England and then was dropped from the team after failing in the Test series against Australia the next year. More than 7 years have passed since then but the batsman has not yet made a comeback. However, despite so much time having passed, Karun Nair has not given up and he is still waiting for a call from Team India

32-year-old Nair has said that he is batting at his best. Nair, who is playing for Mysore Warriors in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, said that he is eager to win the trophy and regain his place in India’s Test team. ESPNcricinfo quoted Nair as saying that he feels that he is batting as well as before and is in a good mental state. His entire focus should be on taking full advantage of those opportunities so that he can achieve success again. He said that it is still exciting to wake up every morning and dream of playing Test cricket. This motivates him to move forward. He would love to win the trophy. He missed out on winning the Ranji Trophy last year but will try to improve this year.

still waiting for the return

Nair made his Test debut against England in Mohali in 2016. After scoring low in his first two Test innings, he scored a brilliant 303 not out off 381 balls at Chepauk. However, he managed only 54 runs in his next four Test innings and was dropped from the team. It has been seven years since his last Test match, but Nair has not lost hope. Last year, he moved to Vidarbha to spend more time on the field ahead of the 2023-2024 domestic season. This decision proved to be a turning point for him and he scored 690 runs in the Ranji Trophy and led his team to the final. However, his team lost to Mumbai in the title match.
