The first match of the 5-match Test series is being played between India and England at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. During the second day’s play of this match, Indian team’s star batsman KL Rahul remained just 14 runs away from scoring his 9th century in Test cricket. When Rahul came out to bat on the second day, the Indian team’s score was 2 wickets for 123 runs. From here, Rahul continued to score runs at a fast pace while handling the innings from one end and by the time of lunch, he had put the team in a strong position. In the second session, when it seemed that Rahul would complete his century, he lost his wicket while trying to play a big shot on the ball of Tom Hartley.

Made the fourth highest score in Test for India on Republic Day

If KL Rahul had completed his century, he would have become the second player to achieve such a feat in Test cricket for the Indian team on 26 January. However, despite this, Rahul has become the batsman who has scored the fifth most runs in Test innings for Team India on Republic Day. In this case, Virat Kohli has scored 116 runs, Navjot Singh Sidhu has scored 99 runs, Sachin Tendulkar has scored 96 runs and Mahendra Singh Dhoni has played an inning of 89 runs, who is ahead of him. KL Rahul scored his last Test century at home in 2016 against England when he scored 199 runs with his bat. Since then, in 20 innings, Rahul has managed to cross the 50-run mark 9 times but has not been able to complete a century. Rahul also completed 1000 Test runs at home during his innings of 86 runs, after which he became the 41st Indian player to do so.

Shreyas Iyer and Gill disappointed

While Rahul scored an inning of 86 runs on the second day of the Hyderabad Test match, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer once again disappointed everyone after getting a good start. While Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 23 runs in the second day’s play, Shreyas Iyer was out after scoring 35 runs. However, India has crossed England’s first innings score and increased its lead to more than 50 runs.
