Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s big record with his 17-run innings in Chennai Test, went ahead of the legends – Hindustan News Hub

For Virat Kohli, who was returning to Test cricket after a long break, the first match of the 2-match Test series played against Bangladesh at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium was not very special. While Kohli could score only 6 runs in the first innings of this match, 17 runs were seen from his bat in the second innings. Even though Kohli was able to score only 23 runs in this match, he has broken a big record in international cricket which was in the name of Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli has now become the player to cross the 12000 run mark in the least number of innings at home in international cricket.

Kohli left behind Sachin as well as Ponting and Kallis

As soon as Virat Kohli completed his 5th run during Team India’s second innings in the Chennai Test, he became the player to complete 12000 runs in the least number of innings at home in international cricket. Kohli completed this feat in just 243 innings. Earlier, this record was in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who completed his 12000 international runs at home in 267 innings. At present, Kohli is only behind Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring the most runs in international cricket for India at home, who has scored 14192 runs, while Kohli has scored 12012 runs so far.

Virat Kohli is currently at number 5 in terms of scoring the most runs at home in international cricket, in which Sachin Tendulkar is at number one in this list, Ricky Ponting is at number two with 13117 runs, Jacques Kallis is at number three with 12305 runs, while former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara is at number four with 12043 runs.
