Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has called for changes in the country’s cricket team after the crushing defeat in the first Test match against Bangladesh. This defeat was by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi on Sunday, which has caused a lot of anger among the country’s cricket fans and former players. During a conversation with the media, Naqvi clearly felt the need for reform in Pakistan cricket and hinted at major changes.
Questions raised after defeat
After such a defeat from Bangladesh, the Pakistan cricket team is being criticized a lot. Former players like Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez and Fawad Alam have questioned the performance of the team. Hafeez took a dig at Naqvi by reminding him of his earlier comment in which he had said that there will be a big change in Pakistan cricket. Naqvi had made this statement when the Pakistan team was out of the T20 World Cup and had to face defeat from India. He had then said that earlier he thought that a small change would be enough, but due to poor performance, a big change is needed.
There were no changes in the team
However, this time the same senior players were seen playing in the first Test match against Bangladesh, and there was no major change in the team. Pakistan’s team came on the field under the captaincy of Shan Masood and once again they performed contrary to expectations. Despite this, Naqvi made it clear that there will be changes in Pakistan cricket and things will be changed. The performance of the Pakistan cricket team has been very poor for some time. Pakistan is constantly losing matches to smaller teams.
Hope for change in the future
After this comment of the PCB chairman, it will now be interesting to see what changes happen in Pakistan cricket and how the team moves forward. Cricket fans and experts are keeping an eye on how Naqvi will fulfill his promises and how he will take the country’s cricket team back on the path of victory. In fact, the need for change in many things in the Pakistan cricket team is clearly visible.
