The 3-match Test series between Pakistan and England started from 7 October. The first day was in the name of host Pakistan team. Pakistan scored more than 300 on the basis of centuries from opener Abdullah Shafiq and captain Shan Masood on the first day in Multan. By the end of the first day’s play, Pakistan had put 328 runs on the scoreboard after losing 4 wickets. On the first day, Shafiq was out after scoring 102 runs while captain Shan Masood became the victim of Jack Leach after scoring 151 runs. By the end of the day’s play, Saud Shakeel returned unbeaten on 35 runs and Naseem Shah returned unbeaten on 0 runs.
Pakistan created a record
Pakistan also started the second day in a brilliant manner. There was a partnership of 64 runs for the 5th wicket between Naseem and Shakeel. After this Naseem Shah returned to the pavilion after scoring 33 runs. After this, the process of falling of wickets continued but Pakistan team managed to cross the 500 mark till tea time. In this way Pakistan team created a new history.
In fact, since the Baseball Era i.e. Brendon McCullum became the coach of the English team, a score of more than 500 has been scored only for the third time in a Test innings against England. Pakistan has done this feat for the second time. Earlier, New Zealand had scored 553 runs in Nottingham in the year 2022. At the same time, Pakistan had scored 559 runs against England in Rawalpindi in the year 2022.
Saud Shakeel missed a century
Talking about the second day’s play, Naseem Shah returned to the pavilion after scoring 33 runs. Mohammad Rizwan also failed with the bat and could not even open his account. After the middle order faltered, Saud Shakeel along with Agha Salman took charge and took the team’s score beyond 450. After this, Saud Shakeel returned to the pavilion after scoring 82 runs and Agha Salman scored 7 runs. The team did not give up despite losing 8 wickets on the score of 464 runs and soon crossed the score of 500. Agha Salman along with Shaheen Afridi took the team’s score to 515 runs for 8 wickets in 138 overs till tea time.
