Paralympics 2024: India beats USA-Japan in medal tally, these players will be in action on August 31 – Hindustan News Hub

Paris. Indian para athletes made a great start in the Paris Paralympics. On the second day itself, India bagged 4 medals including 1 gold. Out of these, 3 medals came from shooting and one medal came from athletics. Avni Lekhara created history by winning the gold medal in shooting. She won the gold medal in the women’s 10 meter air rifle standing SH1 event. In this way, she managed to win gold in 2 consecutive Paralympics. In the same event, Mona Agarwal of India won bronze.

On the other hand, Manish Narwal won the silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol (SH1) event. At the same time, Preeti Pal won the bronze medal in the women’s T35 category 100m race with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds, giving India its first athletics medal in the track event of the Paralympics. All the medals India has won in athletics since the 1984 phase have been in field events.

India’s schedule on Saturday, the third day of the Paris Paralympics (Indian time) is as follows:-

  • Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 (Qualification): Rubina Francis – 03.30 PM

Track cycling:

  • Women’s 500m Time Trial C1-3 (Qualification): Jyoti Gaderia – 01.30 PM
  • Men’s 1,000m Time Trial C1-3 (Qualification): Arshad Sheikh – 01.49 pm

Sailing:

  • Mixed PR3 Double Sculls (Repechage): India (Anitha and Narayan Konganapalle) – 03.00 PM

Archery

  • Women’s Compound (1/8 Elimination 2): Sarita Devi vs Eleonora Sarti (Italy) – 07.00 PM
  • Women’s Compound (1/8 Elimination 8): Sarita Devi vs Mariana Zuniga (Chile) – 08.59 PM

Athletics

  • Men’s Javelin Throw F57 (Medal Event): Praveen Kumar – 10.30 PM

On the second day of the Paris Paralympics on Friday (30 August), India finished 10th in the medal tally. Now it remains to be seen how many medals India gets on the third day. Let us tell you, India has sent its largest ever contingent to the Paralympic Games in which 84 athletes are participating. These include 52 men and 32 women.
