Bumrah made a strong comeback after recovering from injury
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting said on ‘ICC Review’ that I have been saying this for a long time that Jasprit Bumrah is probably the best bowler in world cricket for the last five or six years, playing in many formats. A few years ago when he got injured, there was some fear that ‘will he be able to perform like before? But I think he has really performed better after coming back.
A nightmare for opposing players
The former Australia captain said that the best way to always get the right information about these players is to ask (other) players. And when you talk to the opposition batsmen about him (Bumrah) the answer is always ‘No, he is a nightmare!’ You never know what is going to happen. He said that some ball will swing, some will seam, he will bowl in-swing or out-swing. Nobody knows anything.
Bumrah is going to be a great player: Ponting
Ricky Ponting said that if I look at his performance in the T20 World Cup, the speed is still the same. Nothing has changed in that. The skill is also the same. He is getting better year after year. When you have the skill and consistency that he has, you are going to be a great player. Look at (Glenn) McGrath, look at (James) Anderson, look at these guys. His skill has lasted for so long which sets him apart from the rest.
Jasprit Bumrah has taken 159 wickets in 36 Test matches, 149 wickets in 89 ODIs and 89 wickets in 70 T20I matches for the Indian team. He is one of the few players for India who plays in all three formats.
