IND vs BAN: Rishabh Pant created a new record with his comeback in Test cricket in Chennai. Pant remained away from the field for a long time after being injured in a terrible road accident in the year 2022 and then he returned to international cricket from the T20 World Cup 2024. After winning the T20 World Cup title, Pant was included in the Test team and now he created a record by becoming a part of the playing XI of the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. Pant has returned to Test cricket after 634 days. He played his last Test match on 25 December 2022 against Bangladesh in Mirpur.

In the first test match being played in Chennai, Bangladeshi captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto won the toss and invited the Indian team to bat first. Bangladesh bowled brilliantly from the first over itself, as a result of which India lost 3 wickets for just 34 runs within 10 overs. Rohit Sharma was out for 6 runs and Shubman Gill was out for a duck. After this, Virat Kohli came on the field and got out after scoring 6 runs. All these three wickets went to Hasan Mahmud’s account. After the Indian top order was exposed, Rishabh Pant came to bat in the middle order and along with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, he handled the innings. During this, as soon as Pant completed 19 runs, he made a big record in international cricket.

Joined Dhoni’s club

In fact, Rishabh Pant has completed his 4000 runs in international cricket by scoring the 19th run in the Chennai Test. He is only the second Indian wicketkeeper batsman to do so. Before him, only Mahendra Singh Dhoni was able to achieve this feat. Dhoni has 17092 runs in international cricket as a wicketkeeper-batsman. After Dhoni, now Pant has entered the club of 4000 or more international runs.
