Rishabh Pant: Rishabh Pant has now returned to Test cricket as well. In the year 2022, he was badly injured in a horrific road accident. First IPL, then T20 and now Rishabh Pant has made a comeback in Tests as well. Pant’s bat may not have worked in the first innings of the first Test played against Bangladesh in Chennai, but in the second innings he scored a brilliant century and once again cemented his place in the team. However, this has put another player of Team India in trouble. With Pant around and due to this kind of game, it does not seem that he will be able to return to Team India soon.
Pant returned to Test cricket after almost two years
Before the Chennai Test, Rishabh Pant played his last Test match against Bangladesh in December 2022. After this he was out due to injury. During this time, when Team India came on the field for the Test, many wicketkeepers were searched. Especially KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel got a chance. But neither of them could show such a game that could impress. This is the reason that as soon as Pant became fit, he returned to the team once again without any problem.
Pant scored a century in the second innings of the test against Bangladesh
Rishabh Pant played a small innings of 39 runs in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh and after that he managed to play a brilliant innings of 109 runs in the second innings. Pant was already playing T20, but his fitness check in Tests was yet to be done. Now it seems that Pant has passed that too. Obviously, whenever he wants to play, his place in Team India is confirmed.
It is now difficult for KS Bharat to return to Team India
Now the question is what will happen to KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel, who had taken up the responsibility of wicket-keeping in Tests in the meantime. Jurel has played three Test matches for India so far, in which he batted four times. He scored 190 runs and took four catches as well as two stumps. His average was around 63. But even after this, he could not make headlines. On the other hand, if we talk about KS Bharat, he has batted in 12 innings of 7 Test matches for India so far and could only score 221 runs. He took 18 catches and took one stump. His average was 20.09. Now that Team India is playing a Test series against Bangladesh, Jurel is the second wicketkeeper after Rishabh Pant. That is probably because his average is better than Bharat’s. That is, if we look at the overall situation, even if Pant does not play, Jurel will be the second keeper. In such a situation, the path of return to Team India is now becoming very difficult for Bharat.
