The Indian team is currently busy playing the Test series against Bangladesh. After this, Team India will host New Zealand. But the real challenge for Team India will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year. For this series, the Indian team will tour Australia where a 5-match Test series will be played between the two teams. This will be the first time since 1991-92 that a 5-match series will be played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India defeated Australia twice in a row in the year 2018-19 and in the year 2020-21. Now Australia will have a tough challenge to stop India from winning for the third time in a row.
There are still 2 months left for the start of this series but the Australian team has already started making strategies against the Indian players. This has also become clear from the recent statement of Australian captain Pat Cummins. In fact, Cummins has said that in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series, the Australian team will work on a strategy to keep Rishabh Pant quiet.
Australia is making a special plan for Pant
Cummins said on ‘Star Sports’ that Pant is a player who has had a huge impact in the last few series and the Australian team will have to try to keep him quiet. Pant has made significant contributions with the bat in his last two Test series against Australia.
Comparing Pant’s aggressive attitude with his teammates Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh, Cummins said that every team has one or two players who can change the course of the match. You know that Australia has players like Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Cummins believes that with these players they are going to play aggressively. This time the Australian team will be looking for their first Test series win against India since 2014-15.
Pant did wonders with the bat in Gabba
Rishabh Pant, who made his Test debut in August 2018, has an excellent record against Australia. He has scored 624 runs in 12 Test innings at an impressive average of 62.40. His best score in this was 159 not out. He played an unbeaten innings of 89 runs in the second innings at the Gabba in 2021, on the basis of which the Indian team not only defeated Australia on this ground for the first time in 32 years but also won the series 2-1.
