The first match of the two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Team India won this match. Why did Pant score runs quickly?
At the time of lunch break, both Gill and Pant were above 80 and Rohit made it clear that he will declare the innings after one hour of lunch and he asked the batsmen to score whatever they want during this time. After the match, when the broadcaster asked Pant why he was batting fast, during this conversation he revealed that when he went for lunch, there was talk of declaring the innings, Rohit bhai said we will play for one hour, brother whoever wants to score can score as many runs as they want, so it came to my mind that I should score a little early, who knows we might make it to 150.
In the post-lunch session, both Pant and Gill hit their respective centuries while KL Rahul also got some much-needed game time and remained unbeaten on 22 off 19 balls with the help of four fours. Captain Rohit Sharma also praised Rishabh Pant, who made a comeback after facing difficult times in the last 18 months and made an impact in this format.
