In 2012, when Sri Lanka hosted the Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time, the teams of New Zealand, England, Australia and West Indies had made it to the semi-finals of the tournament, in which the Australian team won the title. After this, in the year 2014, the Women’s T20 World Cup was hosted by Bangladesh and Australia, West Indies, South Africa and England had confirmed their place in the semi-finals, after which in the end the Australian team was successful in winning the title.
In the year 2016, India hosted the Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time and this time the teams of Australia, England, West Indies and New Zealand reached the semi-finals of the tournament, in which the West Indies team defeated Australia by 8 wickets in the final match. Also won the title. At the same time, once again Asian teams have not been successful in making it to the semi-finals of this tournament being played in UAE in the year 2024.
