Phil Salt
The 3-match T20I series between England and Australia is to start this month. In such a situation, England has announced its team. However, host England has suffered a major setback even before this series. England captain Jos Buttler has been ruled out of this entire series due to injury. The captain has had to leave the team due to a calf injury on his right leg. Surrey all-rounder Jamie Overton has been included in the T20 team in his place. The three-match T20 series will begin next week on 11 September 2024 in Southampton.
Phil Salt will take over the command of the team
In Butler’s absence, Lancashire and KKR’s Phil Salt, who captained Manchester Originals in The Hundred this season, will lead the T20 team. Due to this injury, Butler’s participation in the ODI series later this month is also considered doubtful. After the T20I series, a 5-match ODI series will be played between Australia and England. England has also announced its team for the ODI series. Batsman Jordan Cox has been included in the ODI team as a cover for Butler. The five-match ODI series will start on September 19 at Trent Bridge.
